(please discourage phone calls during your weekend - it may disrupt your ability to concentrate on each other and thereby gain the best from it.)

The centre is a modern retreat house on the edge of West Wickham and Hayes. Although close to an urban area, it is surrounded by farmland and has pleasant gardens within its grounds.  It therefore has the tranquil atmosphere you would expect from rural location.

Accommodation is in comfortable study bedrooms, which are all accessible by lift.  The rooms have washbasins and there are showers, bathrooms and toilets on each floor, as well as kitchenettes where hot drinks can be made at any time. Bathrooms on two of the floors have been adapted for the disabled.

Getting There

Public Transport

There are reasonably frequent train services to Hayes station from London’s Charing Cross and Cannon Street stations. The station is a terminus and there are no stairs to negotiate. Go to the bus stop across from the station entrance and catch the 138, which will take you to the entrance to the centre at the junction of Sylvan Way and Layhams Road.  Alternatively it is about a 30 minute (1.5 mile) walk from the station or you can call Cannon Cars, a local minicab firm, on  Tel: 020 8777 8888. Their office is close to the station - turn right outside the station.  It’s just round the corner on the right.

Car

The centre is about 9 miles inside the orbit of the M25. Leave at Junction 4 onto the A21 (London SE & Bromley). After 0.8 miles, take 3rd exit at roundabout (signed for Bromley) and continue on A21 for a further 4.5 miles till you come to the hospital and Ye Old White Lion pub where you exit left onto A232 (signed for West Wickham). Continue for almost 2.5 miles till you come to a roundabout with A2022. Take first exit into (signed Addington). At next roundabout take first exit (left) into Layhams Road. Continue for just over a third of a mile to a speed hump at the end of Sylvan Way, then turn right into the drive leading to Emmaus. The sign at the entrance to the drive says  ‘Daughters of Mary and Joseph’.
