Rydal Hall is a historic house set in 34 acres of beautiful grounds in the heart of the Lake District. Most rooms are en-suite or have private facilities. The building has been adapted for guests with disabilities, but as an old listed building, it does present some challenges. Please let us know if you have special access needs.

Getting There

Public Transport

The nearest railway station is Windermere, about 6 miles southeast of the house. There are plenty of taxis available at the station.

Bus number 599 to Grassmere and 555 to Keswick run from Windermere Rail/Bus interchange to a stop at the Rydal Lodge Hotel, from which it is a 200 yard uphill walk to the house. More information can be found at the Traveline Journey Planner website.

Car

The house is about 21 miles from junction 36 (Barrow/Kendal A590/A591) of the M6. From the roundabout over the motorway, take the A590 exit (westwards) towards Barrow and Kendal. After about 3 miles the road becomes the A591 dual carriageway towards Windermere. After the Kendal bypass, the road becomes a two lane road.  Continue on the A591 through Windermere and through Ambleside.  Around a mile beyond Ambleside you will come to the Rydal Lodge Hotel.  Turn right opposite the hotel (there is a sign for Rydal Hall).  The hall is about 200 yards on the right.
